The University Translation Service (STU) of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada took off after winning the first prize in the Second Junior Enterprise Contest. The original project for which the prize was awarded was to create a translation agency within the University itself with two basic objectives: first, to provide the University with a permanent translation service, taking into account the international scope of the institution, and second, to serve as a bridge between the students and graduates of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting and the labor market. The original project is now a reality. Endorsed by the international Junior Enterprise seal and the JADE Network, the STU is prepared not only to manage the University’s linguistic needs, but also to play a main role in boosting Granada’s economy at an international level. The STU is a guarantee of professionalism and know-how in the world of translation. Various members of the University are involved with this challenging and passionate endeavor. The STU is made up of enterprising students eager to apply their knowledge in a labor market that will eventually become their own, as well as graduates who channel their academic interests into research and teaching. STU also benefits from the guidance and mentorship of the Vice Dean of Students of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. |
