Consecutive interpreting
The other main method of interpreting is consecutive interpreting. In this case, the interpreter sits next to the speakers, takes notes of the content of a speech, which may last several minutes, and immediately reproduces the discourse exactly.
This technique is ideal for meetings with a maximum of 2 or 3 languages and a small number of participants, such as interviews, technical visits, diplomatic negotiations, business meetings or press conferences. It is also used in official ceremonies, for example in formal toasts, ceremonial meals or welcome speeches.
